Colleen Roberts
Transplant Type - Double-Lung
We're thrilled to report that Colleen received her transplant on February 13,
2016!
In 2012, Colleen was diagnosed with Idiopathic Bronchiolitis Obliterans, a rare
condition that has severely damaged her lungs. Doctors said a double-lung
transplant was essential to her survival.
The average double-lung transplant costs approximately $800,000. And that’s
only the beginning. Even with insurance, which will cover the cost of the
transplant, Colleen still faces significant expenses related to the surgery.
For the rest of her life, she will need follow-up care and daily anti-rejection
medications, which are as critical to her survival as the transplant itself.
This has been a difficult time for Colleen and her family, especially because
she’s no longer able to participate in family activities with her husband,
John, and their two children. Before Colleen became ill, she loved traveling, going
to the beach, swimming and trying new restaurants, but her activities have been
extremely limited these days. She looks forward to the day when she can walk
without feeling exhausted and short of breath, and she dreams of once again
being involved in her children’s school and social functions. But right now,
she needs your help.
